My daughter is 9 and still sleeps with me, how can I settle the anxiety for both of us?

I'm a single mom and we live in a mobile home and her bedroom is a foot from the front door and I'm hard of hearing and afraid I won't hear anything if something should happen. We live out on a country road. I really want my bed, but can't sleep when she's not there? You hear of so many abductions, it worries me. I talked with her doctor cause I take so much flak over it from other people how wrong it is, and she told me that if it were mother and son that would be different. Can you suggest any ideas how to ease this for the both of us. Her room is so much smaller than mine, or I'd switch rooms.
