What is the thesis here?!?

Artistic veneration of saints and holy figures has been executed for ages out of respect and honor. A large portion of the western world's great art was privately commissioned religious work. Worshippers see religious art as uplifting symbols and portrayals of the beauty and truth of their religion. However these artistic practices of religious veneration come across as an act of Idolatry that can lead to misrepresentation and false hopes of a religion. Today, anyone can go to a supermarket and purchase a candle printed with an image of a holy figure. Or purchase a religious statue on Ebay. Nevertheless, can an object of metal, wood, plastic or other materials possess a religious essence? Do they impair the true meaning of religious conviction? What is the theseis here
