How do you thicken very fine long hair (male)?

hi im a 18 year old male and i have medium-long hair. and i hate my hair type, its very fine hair. when i shake my head it poofs rather than go back to place. it feels as if its not being weighed down enough and i want to know if there is a way to thicken my hair.
